Rosenblatt Recitals concludes 2012/13 season and announces exciting 2013/14

Pretty Yende, soprano
The 2012/13 Rosenblatt Recitals series concludes on Thursday 6 June 2013, with a recital at the Wigmore Hall by South African soprano Pretty Yende. The season has already been a lively one, not only is it the first Rosenblatt Recitals series at the Wigmore Hall, but four of the recitals were televised for Sky Arts (for broadcast in July 2013) and Rosenblatt Recitals has released the first three in its new CD series.  The 2013/14 series of recitals has also been announced. It is a tempting mixture of youth and experience with ten recitals at the Wigmore Hall including Celso Albelo, Leo Nucci, Giuseppe Filianoti, Rosa Feola and Dennis O'Neil.

Thursday 6 June 2013 will be the UK recital debut of a soprano who has already been creating quite a stir in the opera house. Pretty Yende studied in Cape Town and at the La Scala Academy in Milan, going on to win Placido Domingo's Operalia competition in 2011. She currently studies with Mariela Devia. In January 2013 she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, stepping in a short notice to sing Countess Adele in Rossini's Le Comte Ory with Juan Diego Florez. In April she made her role debut in Lucia di Lamermoor with Cape Town Opera. Future roles include Norina in Donizetti's Don Pasquale and Musetta in Puccini's La Boheme.

For her Rosenblatt Recital Pretty Yende will be accompanied by James Vaughan and their programme includes Liszt's Tre sonetti di Petrarca plus songs by Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Debussy and Gershwin with songs from Kurt Weill's Lady in the Dark, Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story and an aria from Donizetti's Linda di Chamounix. Quite a combination!  Further information on Pretty Yende's recital from the Rosenblatt Recitals website.

Rosenblat Recitals 2013/14 opens on 16 September 2013 with a recital by the Tenerife-born tenor Celso Albelo, who will present a programme of music by Iberian and South American composers. The young Californian soprano Angel Blue, who made her debut as Musetta with ENO earlier this year, has a recital on 21 October 2013. Italian tenor Giorgio Berrugi makes his London recital debut on 7 November with a programme of Italian song and arias.

On 12 December the series moves temporarily to Cadogan Hall for a recital by the distinguished Italian baritone Leo Nucci (who recently shared the role of Nabucco at Covent Garden with Placido Domingo), with the Italian Opera Chamber Quintet, in Verdi arias.

2014 continues back at Wigmore Hall with a recital on 9 January 2014 by Spanish soprano, Rose Feola. The season continues with Georgian mezzo-soprano (and award-winning film actress) Nino Surguladze (10 February 2014), lyric tenor Giuseppe Filianoti (11 March 2014), distinguished tenor Dennis O’Neill (2 April 2014), tenor Antonio Poli (5 May 2014) and Greek baritone Dimitri Platanias (16 June 2-14), who made a his Covent Garden debut in Rigoletto in 2012.

Further details from the Rosenblatt Recitals website. Tickets for the 2013/14 season go on sale on 1 June 2013.
