Pianist Sally Wigan makes her Wigmore Hall debut on Monday 3 March 2014, playing a programme of Debussy, Dohnanyi, Beethoven and John McCabe. Wigan studied at the Liszt Ferenc Academy in Budapest in 2009 on a Joseph Weingarten Scholarship, and played on Dohnanyi's piano in his teaching room at the Academy. Her Wigmore Hall recital will include Dohnanyi's Intermezzo and Capriccio from Four Pieces for Piano. Wigan will also be playing two studies by John McCabe, Snowfall in Winter and Scrunch, in celebration of the composer's 75th birthday this year.
Sally won third prize in the Ninth British Contemporary Piano Competition in 2013, the 2009 Frank Merrick Prize in the RCM Contemporary Piano Competition, and the 2007 Birmingham Chamber Music Society & Derek Young Memorial Award with a performance of Messiaen's Quatour pour la fin du temps.
She is also a Park Lane Group Artists and will be sharing the Wigmore Hall concert with the Tempest Flute Trio, who are also Park Lane Group Artists.
