LPO Debut Sounds: New Musick

The London Philharmonic Orchestra's Debut Sounds concert at St John's Smith Square, 12 July 2017. The programme includes world premieres by the four LPO Young Composers – Yvonne Eccles, Nathan Dearden, Alex Paxton and Stef Conner – as well as works by Sir James MacMillan and the choral music of Purcell. The new pieces are inspired by Purcell's Come Ye Songs of Art.The performers are the young vocal ensemble, echo, alumni of Genesis Sixteen, along with members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert is a farewell for conductor Magnus Lindberg who has been composer in residence since 2014, and mentor to the young composers.
