Opera Holland Park to perform Verdi's Requiem for Grenfell victims

Opera Holland Park
On Tuesday 1 August 2017, a memorial performance of Verdi's Requiem will take place at Opera Holland Park (OHP) to support those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. All proceeds will go to the Rugby Portobello Trust (RPT), which has been working closely with victims of the Grenfell Tower tragedy and with which OHP has a long association. The performers will be Anne Sophie Duprels (soprano), Yvonne Howard (mezzo-soprano), Neal Cooper (tenor) and Barnaby Rea (bass), with the Opera Holland Park Chorus (including OHP principals and guest artists), the City of London Sinfonia and conductors Sian Edwards and Peter Robinson.

OHP has been profoundly affected by the tragedy. The company is based just a mile from Grenfell Tower, several of OHP's staff are, and historically have been, residents of North Kensington, and one much-loved member of staff who was a Grenfell resident is currently missing. Since the disaster, OHP has been collecting at the theatre for those affected. This money has been donated to the Kensington and Chelsea Foundation for distribution, with all funds going directly to those in need.

To find out more about the Verdi Requiem memorial concert and to book tickets or donate, see the Opera Holland Park website.
