Northern Ireland Opera's annual Festival of Voice took place in Northern Ireland this weekend, and a small socially distanced audience at the First Church Belfast witnessed the finale where five finalists competed for the Deborah Voigt Opera Prize and to become the Northern Ireland Opera Voice of 2020.

The winner was David Corr, a baritone from Dublin who is a current member of the Northern Ireland Opera Studio, whilst Andrew Irwin, a tenor from County Fermanagh won the audience prize [we caught Andrew in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera with WNO last year, see my review].

The other finalists were soprano Jade Phoenix, mezzo Sarah Luttrell and bass-baritone David Howes.

Further details from Northern Ireland Opera's website,  and a highlights video will be on the company's YouTube feed later this month.
