There is a chance next month to hear conductor Renato Balsadonna's thoughts on Verdi's La Traviata, a work that he conducts at Covent Garden next month. He will be talking about conducting La Traviata at an event presented by Opera Prelude at the Garrison Chapel, Chelsea Barracks on 1 April 2022. There will also be music from the opera performed by  Opera Prelude's young artists Galina Averina, soprano, Alex Aldren, tenor and Jolyon Loy, bass baritone.

We last caught Balsadonna in January conducting Verdi's Nabucco at Covent Garden [see my review], and his first appearance was conducting a terrific performance of Massenet's Le roi de Lahore with Chelsea Opera Group in 2015 [see my review]

Opera Prelude is a charity devoted to supporting early career singers and sharing their love of opera with such events, bridging across the footlights.

Further details from the Opera Prelude website.
