April at Kings Place gives us the chance to hear Imogen Cooper in Rachmaninov, rare Richard Strauss, a family quartet from Germany and duets for actor and instrument.

Imogen Cooper and Sonia Wieder-Atherton perform Rachmaninov's wonderful Cello Sonata, plus music by Janacek, Beethoven, Webern and Shostakovich (12/4). Brothers Erik, Ken and Mark Schumann make up 3/4 of the Schumann Quartet from Germany, and they will be playing Shostakovich, Haydn and Schubert (13/4).

Rather intriguingly Luke Styles has written four new works, titled Play (After Beckett), with each being a worldess duo for instrumentalist and actor, exploring how theatre connects with music (6/4). And Lucy Parham and Henry Goodman will be performing Richard Strauss's melodrama Enoch Arden, based on Tennyson's poem. A rarely done work and definitely something to catch (27/4).

On the jazz side, saxophonist Evan Parker has a 70th birthday celebration with some very special guests (5/4).
