Brian Elias |
As part of its At Lunch concert series, the Britten Sinfonia with oboist Nicholas Daniel will be giving the premiere of Brian Elias's Oboe Quintet at the Wigmore Hall (19 April 2017), St Andrews Hall, Norwich (21 April) and West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge (25 April). Elias's new work will be paired with Gerald Finzi’s Interlude for oboe and string quartet, Op.21 and Mozart’s String Quintet in C minor 406/516b. All the performers in the concert are Britten Sinfonia Principals, Jacqueline Shave (leader), Nicholas Daniel (oboe), Caroline Dearnley (cello), Clare Finnimore (viola) and Miranda Dale (violin), and Dorothea Vogel (viola).
The performances coincide with the launch of an
NMC recording of Brian Elias’s music,
Elektra Mourns, featuring the Britten Sinfonia and Susan Bickley in a BBC Proms performance of Elias’s
Electra Mourns (winner of a 2013 British Composer Award), as well as
Geranos performed by Psappha, and songs performed by Susan Bickley and Roderick Williams, with Iain Burnside
