New music from South Africa forms the centrepiece of a trio of concerts being given at St John's Smith Square starting on Sunday 8 January 2017 by the chamber ensemble I Musicanti and their South Afican-born, London-based artistic director Leon Bosch. On 8 January the ensemble will give the premiere of the quintet But All I Wanna Do Is Dance by South African composer Matthijs Van Dijk, alongside Schubert's Trout Quintet and Mozart's Piano Quintet in E flat, performed by Peter Donohoe, Tamás András, Robert Smissen, Richard Harwood, and Leon Bosch.

Further ahead the group premieres a new work by Werner Bosch on 5 March, and a new duo Sonatina for Viola and Double Bass by David Earl on 28 May.

Matthijs Van Dijk won the Priaulx Rainer Prize for composition in 2003 whilst he was still studying at the University of Cape Town. He has been active in the film industry since 2005 and formed the South African Film Orchestra in 2014 to promote and record soundtracks in South Africa.
