We all make New Year's resolutions and never get round to them. Item, 'start going to Alexander Technique classes', but we never do, until it is too late and something needs correcting. So if you have ever thought about the Alexander Technique, then the City Lit, Keeley Street, Covent Garden, is the place for you. The City Lit is running a twelve-week course, Alexander technique: performance breath and voice, from 9 January to 3 April 2017.
The Alexander Technique is a popular technique relating to posture and breathing, aiming to help you move more freely. It is not strictly a performance technique, but is very popular with performers and many find it helpful with regard to stress and breathing.
The Technique encourages the release of habitual tension to allow greater freedom in movement, breath and speech, and the course will address the breathing and vocal needs of the actor, singer, musician and all performers. The course is aimed at actors, musicians and performers of all kinds and levels, and is suitable for complete beginners. Full information from the City Lit website.
