The season opens with Berlin: The Age of Enlightenment in which music from the Prussian court by CPE Bach, Quantz, JS Bach and Frederick the Great is performed by Mahan Esfahani, plus Rachel Brown, Madeleine Easton and Richard Boothby along with a talk by Norman Lebrecht (24/1/2015). Beethoven: Twenty-five years of quartet-making pairs the Endellion String Quartet playing Beethoven with poet Ruth Padel reading new works (25/2/2015). Bellini and Chopin: Weeping in Song is a recital by pianists Thomas Harris and Aldemir Tokov, with tenor Gyula Rab in a programme which compares and contrasts music by Chpin, Bellini and Verdi, along with Liszt paraphrases. Patrick Bade gives an illustrated talk. (2/3/2014).
Further ahead, the concerts visit Vienna, St Petersburg, Paris, and London and follow the footsteps of Byron, Liszt, Berlioz, Schubert, Britten, Shostakovich with performances from Rachel Podger and Brecon Baroque, pianist Ferenc Rados, cellist Aleksei Kiseliov and pianist Itmar Golan.
