This autumn's concerts at London's Handel House Museum include an interesting array of performers and music. Harpsichordist Richard Egarr and mezzo-soprano Daniela Lehner are resident in September, performing all eight of Handel's harpsichord suites alongside arias from operas. Later in September, the English Concert are in residence, giving five concerts with music ranging from Bach, Baltzar and Bach, to Venetian sonatas for Cello and Basso.
In October, Kerry Andrew is composer in residence, she has curated a series of concerts which includes music by Andrews herself, Michael Finnessy and Lucy Mulgan, with performers as diverse as Ensemble Amorpha, the juice vocal ensemble and Scottish folk-singer/songwriter Alasdair Roberts.
The museum's new exhibition is Charles Jennens: the man behind Messiah (21 November to 14 April) and there are events themed around this, including readings from his letters and extracts from Messiah performed one voice to a part, directed by Bridget Cunningham - a rather refreshing way to hear the piece.
