The Arcubus Ensemble, conductor Julian Collins, takes its name from St Mary de Arcubus the medieval building which stood at the current site of the church of St Mary le Bow in the City. The choir's composer in residence is Russell Hepplewhite (whose opera The Price for W11 Opera we saw recently).
The Arcubus Ensemble give a regular series of Sunday afternoon concerts at St Mary le Bow, combining Hepplewhite's music with earlier repertoire. On Sunday 12 February 2017 at 3pm, they will be performing Hepplewhite's Christina Rosetti setting Paradise: In a dream for upper voices and piano, alongside John Tavener's hauntingly beautiful Svyati for choir and solo cello, and Victoria's Requiem Mass.
Further ahead there is Lassus, Bruckner, Arvo Pärt, William Byrd, Jonathan Dove and many more. Full details from the Arcubus Ensemble website.
