The Get Creative Festival, the UK's biggest celebration of have-a-go creativity, returns this year for its fifth instalment but this year the festival has moved on-line. As part of its contribution, the BBC is forming the BBC Lockdown Orchestra, featuring musicians from the BBC Orchestras and the Ulster Orchestra, each recorded in their own home. The new orchestra's first 'gig' will be providing the backing to a new Get Creative initiative, a national collaborative rendition of the 1986 anthem of hope You Got The Love by The Source featuring Candi Staton - which Florence + The Machine brought to renewed fame in 2009 with their cover version, You’ve Got The Love.
From Monday 4 May to Sunday 10 May as part of the Get Creative festival, members of public are invited to download the specially made backing track or musical score of You Got The Love from bbc.co.uk/getcreative, and to then film themselves singing or playing a musical instrument to the track. Once the public have uploaded their videos the BBC will be making a track and video to go out across BBC Radio on Thursday 14 May, on-line and on BBC Four at 8.55pm later that day.
