Judith Bingham's The Very Distant Days for unaccompanied seven-part choir sets a text which combines the final poem from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland with selections from novels by Charles Dickens. The work is a poetic meditation on ageing. The work will be premiered in London on 24 July 2014 and then performed on tour in the Netherlands.
Gregory W Brown's Missa Charles Darwin uses texts taken from the writings of Charles Darwin to create a very modern take on the mass. The work was written for the all male ensemble New York Polyphony. London Concord Singers will be performing a new version of the work made especially for them, suitable for a mixed voice choir. The Missa Charles Darwin will receive its European premiere on 10 April 2014 at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Cadogan Street, Chelsea.
