In Flanders Fields

Meditation, Op. 70 (In Flanders Fields) by New Zealand-born Canadian composer John Robertson. The piece features a narration of the famous poem by Canadian Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae (1872-1918) written during his time as a physician during the war (he was a surgeon during the Second Battle of Ypres). Meditation features on a recent disc of Robertson's music performed by Bratislava Symphony Orchestra conductor Anthony Armoré on Navona Records, and the disc also includes Robertson's Symphonies Nos. 4 and 5.

Robertson was born and educated in New Zealand, moving to Canada in 1967 where he studied at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto whilst also pursuing a career in insurance.
