This year we managed to post 788 articles, beginning with my interview with Iranian-born German composer composer Arash Safaian and ending with my preview of Grange Park Opera's film of their Summer 2021 production of Verdi's Falstaff.

Despite the year we managed to visit and write about over 40 live operas, in a year characterised by some outstanding performances, great imagination and daring, along with some remarkable rarities including the first London performances of operas by Gluck and Richard Strauss, and a rare revival of an Offenbach Operetta. You can read my selection of this year's opera reviews, concert reviews, and record reviews

Our top performing article was my interview with composer Luke Styles, talking about his new opera based on Britten's Canticles. Other top performing articles included my review of Arcangelo's performance of Bach's St Matthew Passion at the BBC Proms, my review of Chelsea Opera Group's performance of Donizetti's Roberto Devereux, and my review of ENO's new production of Wagner's The Valkyrie.

If you have missed out on anything over the year then our archive lists Opera and Concert Reviews, and Record Reviews are now up to date and well worth a browse.

Don't forget that you can also sign up for my mailing list with gives you our e-Newsletter, This month on Planet Hugill direct into your inbox.
