Stations of Lament

 

Lament - Steel City Choristers
Stations of Lament is a sequence of pieces of textile art by Rev Louise Carr designed to reflect different aspects of people's experience through the COVID 19 pandemic. 

On 12 November 2022, Lament at Highfield Trinity Church, Sheffield, S2 4 UR, will present Stations of Lament with a soundscape provided by Steel City Choristers. The choir (formed when the choir of Sheffield Cathedral was disbanded in 2020) will singing a piece of music for each of the works in Carr's Stations of Lament so that art and choral music will explore the themes of weeping, pain, confusion, protest, comfort, truth-telling, desolation and emerging hope.

Music performed will include works by Purcell, Edgar Bainton, John Ireland, Philip Stopford, Eleanor Daley. Also on display will be glasswork on the theme of COVID by Rev Rachael Parkinson.
