I reviewed two proms for OperaToday.com and my reviews are now up on their website.
Glyndebourne's annual visit to the Proms with The Marriage of Figaro was not one of their best, despite the young and talented cast. But at least we were spared the worst excesses of Michael Grandage's 1960's production, though I pitied Audun Iversen having to wear that wig and that suit as the Count.

John Adam's conducting Nixon in China was always going to be an event. Superbly played by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, I was less than taken with Robert Orth's Nixon, but Gerald Finley gave a masterclass in how it should be done as Chou En-Lai. Adams didn't quite convince me that the work would not benefit from trimming.
