John Lill, a pianist renowned for his Beethoven performances, will be celebrating his 70th birthday with a major tour with performing Beethoven and Rachmaninov with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at venues across the South East of England including the South Bank Centre. There are three all Beethoven concerts, in Croydon (12/3/2014), Cambridge (13/3/2014) and Ipswich (14/3/2014), conducted by Paul Daniel, with Lill playing the Piano Concerto No. 5 Emperor along side Egmont Overture and Symphony No. 3.
Lill will be playing Rachmaninov's Third Piano Concerto in three programmes which include music by Mendelssohn, Dvorak and Brahms conducted by Thomas Dausgaard at Northampton (16/3/2014), Royal Festival Hall (17/3/2014), Reading (18/3/2014), with a further concert conducted by Rory Macdonald at Aylesbury (21/5/2014)
