The South Bank Centre's annual celebration of communal singing, Chorus, returns from 18 to 20 March 2016. There are a wide variety of events ranging from take-part and have-a-go variety through to large scale performances. Mahogany Opera will be premiering The Rattler, their new work based on the story of Rumpelstiltskin with music by Stephen Deazley. And the Bach Choir will be giving its annual performance of Bach's St Matthew Passion in English, conducted by David Hill with Toby Spence as the Evangelist and Matthew Best as Christus.
There are pop-up performances from choirs from all over London. There is a chance to participate in Tamsyn Challenger’s performance art piece Twitter Chorus in which hundreds of voices recite tweets both comical and controversial, to show off your karaoke skills with backing from a gospel choir at Gospeloke, and spend Sunday singing Bach chorales or Balinese kecak 'monkey chants'.
