A concert at The Forge in Camden on 12 April 2016 focuses on works and music written by, for and about women, with music by Sally Beamish, Robert Schumann, William Bolcom and Francis Poulenc.
The Amalie Trio
(Catherine Backhouse - mezzo soprano, Alexa Beattie - viola, Elspeth Wyllie - piano) gives the London premiere of a
work by Sally Beamish for viola and piano, alongside the work which inspired it, Schumann’s song cycle Frauenliebe und -leben, plus William Bolcom's Let Evening Come which sets texts by Maya Angelou, Emily Dickenson and Jane Kenyon.
In the second half of the concert, Eleanor Janes, soprano and Maya Soltan, piano will perform Francis Poulenc's mono-drama La Voix Humaine, to a text by Jean Cocteau, directed by PJ Harris.
