On Tuesday 8 December 2015, Song in the City will be hosting Songs of the Big Smoke at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama's Milton Court, as a fund raiser for Help Musicians UK. The evening will be a staging of London-themed songs taken from Song in the City's first Cd, Songs of the Big Smoke and the Cd will be available at the event. Song in the City's artistic director is pianist Gavin Roberts and he is joined by Jennifer Witton, soprano, Elizabeth Desbruslais, mezzo soprano, Nicholas Allen, tenor and Piran Legg, baritone with Dinah Stabb, creative director.

Song in the City presents song recitals in and around the Square Mile, but under Gavin Roberts' lively direction the group is more than your average classical venue, they programme concerts around inventive and often challenging themes and through the seemingly traditional genre of song, aim to revolutionise the relationship between classical musicians and their audiences.

Help Musicians UK is the leading UK charity for professional musicians of all genres, from starting out through to retirement.
