Yesterday, Friday 4 April 2019, there was the launch for violinist Roman Mints and pianist Alexander Kobrin's exciting new disc Hindemith Complete Works for Violin & Piano, Kleine Sonata for Viola D'Amore & Piano at the Saville Club.

The disc is being released today on the Quartz Music label, and features all the music Hindemith wrote for violin and piano, as well as the sonata for viola d'amore. Hindemith was a distinguished string player in his own right (he gave the premiere of the Walton Viola Concerto), and taught himself to play the viola d'amore before writing a sonata for it!

The launch took place in a delightfully grand neo-Roccoco at the Saville Club. Roman and Alexander played two works at the launch the Kleine Sonata for viola d'amore and piano, and the Sonata for violin & piano in D, Op.11 no.2. Having heard these two, I look forward to listening to the complete CD.

The artist Rimma Bartov was at the reception and was sketching during the recital and she has kindly allowed me to reproduce a couple of her images.

The full disc includes the Sonata in E flat, Op.11, Sonata in D, Op.11, Sonata for viola d'amore & piano ''Kleine Sonata', Op. 25 No.2, Sonata in E, Trauermusik and Sonata in C.

Disc available from Amazon.
