The University of Texas Wind Ensemble is touring at the moment and conducted by Jerry Junkin they will be performing at Cadogan Hall on Sunday 8 June 2014. The ensemble has been commissioning new music since 1988 and has given world premiere performances by John Corigliano, Michael Daugherty, Donald Grantham, David Maslanka, Dan Welcher and John McKay. Their programme at Cadogan Hall includes four contemporary works including two British premieres, with Dan Welcher's Spumante , Donald Grantham's J'ai ete au bal, the British premiere of Frank Ticheli's Concerto for Clarinet and the British and European premieres of John Mackey's Wine-Dark Sea: Symphony for Band.
Dan Welcher is the profession of composition at the University of Texas and has had over 120 works premiered in Texas. Donald Grantham's studies included two summers studying with Nadia Boulanger; he is currently teaching composition at the University of Texas. Frank Ticheli is professor of composition at the University of South California.
