The Dunedin Consort's 2022/23 season includes a new partnership with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) with them residence at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, and the two orchestras will play side by side in Jörg Widmann's clarinet concerto Echo-Fragmente with Widmann as soloist, conducted by Elim Chan. Another partnership with Cumbernauld Theatre in Lanternhouse offering relaxed concerts, open rehearsals and more in a year-round residency. The ensemble's residency at Wigmore Hall continues with celebratory concerts for Christmas and New Year.
They will be giving the UK premiere of Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre's Cantates bibliques in a staging produced in partnership with Mahogany Opera and HERA. John Butt will be directing performances of Mozart's Mass in C minor in a new completion by Clemens Kemme.
Guests include soprano Nardus Williams in an all-Handel programme conducted by Benjamin Bayl, Peter Whelan directing the ensemble for the first time in a Haydn symphonies and a CPE Bach Cello Concerto with principal cellist Jonathan Manson as soloist, and Nicholas Mulroy directing Hail, O Queen a programme of a cappella Marian music across the centuries with singers from the ensemble's professional development programme, Bridging the Gap.
The ensemble is creating a new international mentoring scheme, Intrada, in partnership with Concerto Copenhagen and B'Rock Orchestra. Intrada will be for early career instrumentalists in historical performance. The ensemble's Learning and Participation continues with instrumental and voice-clinics for non-professional musicians, choral workshops for all ages and abilities, open rehearsals, schools workshops, a children's Messiah and on-line workshops.
