Anna Russell
Anna Russell has died, at the amazing age of 94. It was her recording of her introduction to the Ring that helped me learn the piece when I was first discovering it as a student. What was amazing about Russell's Ring lecture was that it was so amusing and so accurate, that bits of it stayed with you for ever, illuminated numerous productions of the Ring.
