The Wigmore Hall has reached its £1 million target for its Endowment Fund a year early. The hall announced yesterday that, thanks to supporters, the target had been achieved and so they have secured a matching Catalyst Award from the Arts Council. The fund was launched in 2013 with the intention of raising £1 million by May 2015.
The Endowment Fund will provide the hall with extra income thus allowing it to invest in its artist residencies, special projects and programmes, hopefully giving a bit of leeway to be more daring and creative. The £1 million is only the first target and they hope to raise £7 million by 2020!
