Fidelio Piano Trio |
On Sunday 15 November 2015 the Fidelio Piano Trio (Darragh Morgan, violin, Adi Tal, cello and Mary Dullea, piano) begins a three concert series at St John's Smith Square, performing a range of piano trios by French composers alongside arrangements of French classics and a selection of contemporary works for trio. The first concert includes Saint-Saens' Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor, Op.92, written in 1892 and a highlight of the French piano trio genre. Alongside this the Fidelio Trio will perform Sally Beamish's arrangement of Debussy's La Mer.
Future concerts are on
Sunday 24 January 2016, and
Sunday 24 April 2016 and include Ravel's
Piano Trio, Faure's late
Piano Trio in D minor Op.120, written when the composer was 78, and 26 year old Chausson's
Piano Trio in G minor Op. 3, plus John White's arrangements of Satie, Benjamin Martin's arrangement of Ravel's
Ma Mere Loye.
Michael Zev Gordon's
In the Middle of Things will be premiered, and the revised version of
Peter Wiegold's
Piano Trio will also receive its premiere.
