Chekhov's grand piano

Chekhov

Chekhov's Grand Piano is a multi-genre production which weaves words by Anton Chekhov with music by his contemporaries, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov alongside David le Page's music inspired by Chekhov's play The Seagull and new artwork. Produced by 7 Star Arts, Chekhov's Grand Piano premieres at Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in Walton-on-Thames, KT12 2PF on 3 March 2017, with music from Viv McLean (piano) and David le Page (violin), readings from Susan Porrett and Nesley Joy, and artwork by Klara Smith.

Music weaves its way through a lot of Chekhov's work, and he corresponded with Tchaikovsky, whom he revered, and his friend Racmaninov played the piano in Chekhov’s summer home, The White Dacha at Yalta.
