Sasha Regan's The Mikado (Photo Scott Rylander) |
Sasha Regan has won plaudits for her all-male productions of Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore and The Pirates of Penzance and now she is returning to G&S to present and all-male production of the most famous Savoy Opera, The Mikado. The Mikado or the Town of Titipu tours from 18 April until 29 July taking in 14 venues from Cornwall to Edinburgh.
Regan's all-male productions play on the humour which can arise from the single-sex casting, which providing good musical values, Libby Purves described Regan's production of
H.M.S. Pinafore as 'rockingly silly, beautifully sung and imaginatively reframed'.
