2018 marks the centenaries of the deaths of both Lili Boulanger and Claude Debussy. The choir Londinium, conductor Andrew Griffiths, mark this with a concert which pairs Lili Boulanger's rarely performed music for choir and piano, with choral music by Debussy. The concert is at the church of St Sepulchre without Newgate, on Friday 6 July 2018.
Four Lili Boulanger works are there for our delectation, Renouveau, Hymne au soleil, Les Sirenes and Soir sur la plane, with the choir being joined by pianist Leanne Singh-Levett. In addition to Debussy's Trois chansons de Charles Orleans, the choir will also be singing a group of Clytus Gottwald's virtuosic choral transcriptions of Debussy's songs and piano music. If you have never heard any of Gottwald's choral transcriptions, then you are in for a treat. Also in the programme is music by Ravel, Durufle and Faure.
