Guildhall School of Music and Drama's inaugural Chamber Music Festival

Guildhall School of Music and Drama's Chamber Music Festival
The Guildhall School of Music and Drama is presenting its inaugural Chamber Music Festival this weekend. From 6 to 8 July 2018, there is a busy programme of concerts and masterclasses in Milton Court and Silk Street. The festival sees Guildhall School musicians collaborating with renowned performers from the chamber music faculty including Adrian Brendel, Levon Chilingirian, Nicholas Daniel, Endellion String Quartet, Joy Farrall, Alec Frank-Gemmill, and many more.

The opening concert features the Endellion Quartet, the Guildhall School's Visiting Quartet-in-Association, who will be joined by professors Graham Sheen, Alex Frank-Gemmill, Adrian Brendel and current Guildhall musicians to perform music by Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy and Guildhall Professor of Composition Matthew Kaner. On Saturday Hidden Gems of the Chamber Music Repertoire features works that are less frequently performed than they deserve, including Prokofiev’s Quintet in G minor, Op. 39 Fauré’s Piano Quartet No. 2 in G minor, Op. 45 and Taneyev’s Piano Trio in D major, Op. 22.. The festival closes with Guildhall faculty members and students playing a programme of Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds, K. 452, Brahms’ Piano Trio in B major, Op. 8 and Mendelssohn’s Octet in Eb major, Op. 20.
