The combination of music and poetry is theme of the Sunday's concert at Conway Hall (5 May 2019, 6.30pm) as part of the long-running Conway Hall Sunday Concerts series. Whilst the focus is my own music, with song cycles setting Christina Rosetti and Rowan Williams, plus a suite for viola inspired by psalms and prayers from the Book of Common, there is also the opportunity to hear George Butterworth's iconic settings of A.E. Housman, and more rarely Frank Bridge's settings of Matthew Arnold, Shelley and Heine (in translation) in his songs for mezzo-soprano, viola and piano.

The performers are Anna Huntley (mezzo-soprano), James Newby (baritone), Rosalind Ventris (viola) and William Vann (piano). I will be giving a pre-concert talk discussing both my own music that of the other composers in the programme, and after the concert there is a Q&A.

Full details from the Conway Hall website.
