The Fourth London Festival of Bulgarian Culture

Pancho Vladigerov
The Fourth London Festival of Bulgarian Culture is currently on at the moment, and amongst the diverse array of events available there are three chamber music concerts at Conway Hall (on 6, 13, 20 November) as well as a closing concert at the Cadogan Hall (30 November)

The concerts at Conway Hall mix British and Bulgarian players, performing a repertoire which takes the listener along the Danube, through Bulgaria and beyond. The first concert mixes Haydn and Schubert, with music by Dobrinka Tabakova, and Franz Drdla. For the second concert, Pancho Vladigerov's Bulgarian Rhapsody 'Vardar' is joined by Brahms Piano Quintet and music by Dohnanyi, and Smetana , whilst for the third concert there is Vladigerov's Piano Trio with Dvorak's Piano Quintet and music by Mozart.

At Cadogan Hall, Martin Georgiev conducts the London Mozart Players in the premiere of Soul Searching, his contrabass clarinet concerto (soloist Scott Lygate), plus Bach's Double Concerto with  Svetlin Roussev (leader of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France) and Ivo Stankov (leader of the Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra and artistic director of the festival), Pergolesi's Stabat Mater (with Vania Vatralova-Stankov and Charlotte Stephenson), plus music by Haydn and Brahms. The choirs are Frances Holland Girls School Choir and St. Paul's Girls School Choir.
