Changing places: Gediminas Gelgotas conducts Kristjan Järvi

The friendship and collaboration between Lithuanian composer Gediminas Gelgotas and Estonian/American conductor Kristjan Järvi (read my interview with Kristjan Järvi) began in 2011, and since then Järvi has conducted a number of Gelgotas's works including his Symphony No. 1 Extracultural which Järvi premiered with the MDR Radio Orchestra in Leipzig. For their most recent collaboration, however, roles have been reversed. Gelgotas is founder and artistic director of the New Ideas Chamber Orchestra, an ensemble which plays mainly minimalist / progressive classical repertoire from memory. 

On the orchestra's latest video, recorded at Metropolis studios, Gelgotas conducts whilst Kristjan Järvi is the composer; Gelogotas conducts the New Ideas Chamber Orchestra in Kristjan Järvi's Nebula:
