Composer Rebecca Saunders won the Chamber-Scale Composition Award (her third RPS Award!) for Skin, whilst Philip Venables won the Large-Scale Composition Award for his 'brilliantly written' opera 4.48 Psychosis. The first violinist of the Takacs Quartet, Edward Dusinberre won the Creative Communication Award for his book Beethoven for a Later Age: The Journey of a String Quartet.
Viol consort Fretwork won the Chamber Music and Song Award for its 30th anniversary year programming, whilst the Manchester Camerata won the Ensemble Award for 'boldly re-inventing itself' over the last few years and 'blazing a trail for what a 20th century orchestra can do'. The UK's first disabled-led youth orchestra, South-West Open Orchestra won the Learning and Participation Award.
Two Scottish festivals took awards; the Lammermuir Festival took the Concert Series and Festivals Award whilst the East Neuk Festival in collaboration with 14-18 NOW won the Audiences and Engagement Award for Memorial Ground by the American composer David Laing.
