Tonight (9 May 2017) there is the first chance to hear The Outcry Ensemble performing at Temple Church since the group was announced as the Temple Music Foundation's associate orchestra. For this inaugural concert the ensemble, conductor James Henshaw, will be performing Richard Strauss's Metamorphosen and a new commission from Laurence Osborn alongside music by Elgar and RVW.
The Outcry Ensemble was founded in 2010 by music students at the University of Cambridge, and is currently run by conductor James Henshaw. The ensemble's previous appearance for the Temple Music Foundation was playing Mendelssohn's music in a delightful production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in Middle Temple Hall. (See my review).
Laurence Osborn has studied with Kenneth Hesketh, Julian Anderson, Julian Philips, and was Junior Composition Fellow at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama during 2015-2016. He is currently composer in association with Nonclassical.
