Ascension - In memory of Daniel Pearl

Daniel Pearl
In 2002, Jewish-American journalist Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan. Daniel's father has commissioned Elegy for Daniel Pearl from David Heath. The work will be premiered on Friday 12 October at 7.30pm at St. Martin's in the Fields, Trafalgar Square, London. It will be played by Scottish saxophonist Andrew McNeill and organist Daniel Moult. The concert includes music by Chopin, Marcello and Vierne, along with Louange à L’eternité de jésus from Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time and two more David Heath works.

David Heath's music has its origins in the harmonic language of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. He wrote the score for a documentary about Daniel Pearl which was broadcast in 2006. The concert will also include Heath's Coltrane and Rhapsody of the Spheres
