The London Handel Festival's autumn season gets underway, and prepares us for the delights of next year's London Handel Festival. On Monday 19 November at Claridges in Brook Street they are holding a fund raising concert, an important event which helps to provide funds for the festival. Ukrainian mezzo-soprano Anna Starushkevych, winner of the 2012 Handel Singing Competition, will be joining Adrian Butterfield (violin/director) and players from the London Handel Orchestra.
The programme, entitled As with rosy steps includes arias from Rodelinda, Rinaldo, La Resurrezione and Theodora, along with chamber music by Handel and Geminiani. The concert is pre-fixed by a champagne reception and followed by dinner in Claridge's Ballroom. Sounds quite delightful, tickets are £175 each. (You can hear Starushkevych in Handel on Youtube)
Then on 6 December at St George's Hanover Square, the London Handel Orchestra will be joining the choir of St. George's, Ruby Hughes, Anna Starushkevych, Samuel Boden, James Oldfield and conductor Simon Williams in a performance of Handel's Messiah.
Tickets for both events can be obtained from the London Handel Festival website.
