South London Concert Series

A new concert series starts at the 1901 Arts Club in Waterloo in November. Brainchild of harpsichordist, pianist and piano teacher Lorraine Liyanage and pianist, and piano teacher and music blogger Frances Wilson, the South London Concert Series exists to promote the careers of young and emerging musicians living or studying in the UK by providing a central London venue and audience for classical and contemporary music concerts.

The series developed out of the London Piano Meetup Group, co-hosted and organised by Lorraine and Frances, which offers regular performance platforms, masterclasses and other events to amateur pianists and piano enthusiasts in and around London.

The new concert series is unique as it offers amateur musicians the opportunity to play alongside professionals in a formal concert setting, thus giving amateur musicians valuable performance opportunities and inspiration from professional musicians. The concerts take place at the lovely 1901 Arts Club, a converted Victorian school house in Waterloo and the series is being launched on 29 November 2013 by pianist Helen Burford with guest performers include Daniel Roberts, Susan Pickerill and Mark Zarb-Adami. Frances and Lorraine are looking for applications from musicians to participate in the series. Further information from the series website.
