ETO's King Priam |
English Touring Opera has been nominated in the Outstanding Achievement in Opera category in the 2014 Olivier Awards. The nomination is for 'its brave and challenging touring productions at the Linbury Studio Theatre', a season which included Tippett's King Priam and Britten's Paul Bunyan. The other nominations in the category are for Juan Diego Florez and Joyce DiDonato in Covent Garden's production of Rossini's La Donna del Lago, and Placido Domingo in Covent Garden's production of Verdi's Nabucco. It is great to see ETO being recognised in such distinguished company.
The other opera category this year,
Best New Opera Production, includes the Opera Group/Opera North/ROH2 production of David Bruce's
The Firework-Maker's Daughter at the Linbury Studio, Covent Garden's production of Verdi's
Les Vepres Siciliennes and ENO's production of Berg's
Wozzeck.
