The second Voices of London Festival starts on Wednesday 6 July 2016 at St James's Church, Sussex Gardens, giving us a chance to hear the wide variety of choral talent which London has to offer. The festival opens with a showcase of young conducting talent.
After a day spent working with Patrick Russill, a group of young conductors will each conduct the Voices of London Consort, and they will be joined by The Music Makers of London, conductor Hilary Campbell, for an all British programme. Thursday 7 July sees Paul McCreesh and the Gabrieli Consort bringing their Silence and Music programme with works by Stanford, RVW, MacMillan, Dove and more. Friday 8 July includes Scott Stroman's Jazz mass and a showcase for a group of workplace choirs. Saturday sees RVW's Sancta Civitas and Elgar's The Spirit of England performed by Chiswick and Dorking choral societies, the Tiffin Boys Choir. And the festival ends with a showcase of youth choirs.
