Save the Date: Premiere of The Gardeners - 18 June 2019

I am pleased to announce the premiere of a new chamber opera, The Gardeners, music by Robert Hugill, libretto by Joanna Wyld.

We will be giving a concert performance of the work at Conway Hall on Tuesday 18 June 2019, conducted by William Vann (music director of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, and artistic director of the London English Song Festival).

Sunday 5 May 2019: Quickening
Conway Hall, as part of their Sunday Evening concert series.
William Vann (piano), Anna Huntley (mezzo-soprano), James Newby (baritone) and Rosalind Ventris (viola).

Robert Hugill's song cycles Quickening and Winter Journey, and Three pieces from the Book of Common Prayer for viola and piano, plus music by Frank Bridge, Granville Bantock and Arthur Butterworth.

July 2019: Telling Stories
London Concord Singers, conductor Jessica Norton, perform Robert Hugill's The Black Dragon (commissioned by London Concord Singers and Alison Cross to celebrate the Millennium Year of the Dragon), plus music by Elizabeth Maconchy, Bob Chilcott, Jessica Norton.
