New Dots down the rabbit hole

New Dots, the contemporary classical initiative which champions new music by putting on concerts, is going all Lewis Carroll for their next concert on 12 November 2015 at The Asylum in Peckham. In Curioser three emerging composers, Kim Ashton, Darren Bloom and Lisa Illean have curated an evening inspired by Lewis Carroll, working with the ensemble Octandre. The evening will combine new work with existing repertoire, responding in a variety of way's to Lewis Carroll's fantasy.

Lisa Illean evokes Carroll's appeal for the Surrealists, and has written a new piece after Mallarme, and arranged works by Ravel and Scelsi. Kim Ashton has written a setting of Elisabeth Bletsoe inspire by the garden of live flowers in Alice. There will also be a premiere by Benjamin Graves and music by Peter Wiegold and Kaija Saariaho. Darren Bloom has written two dream pieces and will be combining these with music by Birtwistle, Christopher Fox, Kurtag and Jonathan Harvey.

Darren Bloom has curated a set of exquisite minatures, reflecting Alice's series of curious encounters. He's written 2 new dream pieces and combined them with works by Birtwistle, Christopher Fox, Kurtag and Jonathan Harvey
