The Stoller Hall in Manchester is three tomorrow (5 May 2020) and the hall is celebrating, on-line of course, with a virtual gala concert hosted by the hall's artistic director Timothy Redmond. The celebration takes the form of a live-stream with performances from some of the best classical music performed in the north of England in recent years, all recorded at The Stoller Hall, including Manchester Collective, Manchester Camerata, Northern Chamber Orchestra and Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra star alongside global artists such as Soweto Gospel Choir.

Highlights include Manchester Collective’s performance of Messiaen's Quartet for The End of Time, part of Manchester Camerata’s Mozart series, Iyad Sughayer in the second movement of Khachaturian's Piano Sonata in Eb Mayor [see my review of Sughayer's disc of Khachaturian] and celebrating the hall's links to Chetham's School of Music, Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra performs Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, conducted by Franz Krager, from a concert in 14 April 2020.
