The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain begins its Spring tour at the Royal Festival Hall on 8 April 2016. The 164 teenagers will be conducted by Kristjan Järvi, in a concert which features Stravinsky’s Fireworks and the complete Firebird ballet, as well as Michael Daugherty’s concerto for violin and orchestra, Fire and Blood, with soloist Chad Hoopes

The concerto by American composer Michael Daugherty was commissioned in 2003 by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and premiered by them conducted by Neemi Järvi (Kristjan's father). Violinist , Chad Hoopes is a former Menuhin Competition Junior winner (Cardiff 2008) and the whole concert forms part of the 2016 Menuhin Competition which, in Menuhin's centenary year, takes place in London.

The tour continues to Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool (9 April), the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester (10 April) and will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 (11 April).
