Pianist Christina McMaster, who is Young Artists in Residence at St John's Smith Square, is coordinating an Explore and Create study day at St John's on Saturday 4 February 2017, when a variety of events and classes will stretch the mind and get us in the mood for McMaster's next concert at St John's Smith Square on 2 March.

The sessions at the study day are all led by prominent female role models, there is meditation and a song-writing class with cellist/singer-songwriter Ayanna Witter-Johnson, film-maker Sheila Hayman on the music of Fanny Mendelssohn, an explore and create session with harpist Olivia Jaguers, a workshop on extended piano techniques with Christina McMaster, and yoga with opera director Daisy Evans.

Looking ahead, McMaster's concert at St John's Smith Square on 2 March, will feature a new work by Ayanna Witter-Johnson alongside works by Britten, Ruth Crawford Seeger, Charles Ives, Meredith Monk, John Adams and Harrison Birtwistle, and McMaster will be joined by Ayanna Witter-Johnson, the Ligeti Quartet, Len Napradean and young performers from London Schools.
