Looking Ahead: Brook Street Band's love:Handel Festival

The Brook Street Band, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2016, is launching its own festival. Entitled love: Handel the festival two day event, 22-23 April 2017 in Norwich, an area currently lacking an Early Music festival. There is also an extensive education programme in association with the Norfolk Music Service. The ensemble intend the festival to be biennial, growing to a four-day event.

Over the two days there are a variety of events on offer, with three concerts, a dance session, a Q&A session, a vocal workshop, a children's participatory concert and talks. The core members of the Brook Street Band (Rachel Harris, Farran Scott, Tatty Theo, Carolyn Gibley) are joined by soprano Nicki Kennedy, and flautist/recorder player Lisete da Silva Bull, who is also an experience baroque dance tutor. Author Louis de Bernieres will be reading, and musicologist Julie-Anne Sadie will join the band in discussion.

The festival is intended to be family friendly, with free tickets for the under 18s. The events take place at The Chapel, Park Lane, Norwich, NR2 3EF
