Garsington - Santa Fe - Paris

Fidelio at Garsington Opera in 2014
Fidelio at Garsington in 2014
This Summer, Santa Fe Opera will be presenting Richard Strauss's Capriccio in new production which, as part of a number of international collaborations, will be coming to Garsington Opera in 2018. And the cast of Garsington's 2014 production of Beethoven's Fidelio will be performing the opera in a semi-staged concert performance in Paris on 24 November 2016 in the Philharmonie de Paris.

The production of Capriccio will be directed by Tim Albery and designed by Tobias Hoheisel. The production premieres in Santa Fe this summer before coming to Garsington in 2018 when it will be conducted by Douglas Boyd. We will be in Santa Fe this Summer, so I hope to report on Capriccio in due course.

For Fidelio in Paris, the Orchestre de chambre de Paris will be conducted by Douglas Boyd (who is music director of the orchestra and artistic director of Garsington Opera). The original cast including Rebecca von Lipinski (Leonore), Peter Wedd (Florestan), Stephen Richardson (Rocco), Sam Furness (Jaquino) and Jennifer France (Marzelline) will be joined by Andrew Foster-Williams (Pizarro), Bradley Travis (Don Fernando) and the choir will be the French chamber choir accentus. It will be directed, with video, by Peter Mumford.
